James Corrigan and I recorded music in his father's church in 2003, utilizing the natural resonance of that space. We used whatever instruments happened to be available: a pump organ, little harps, a guitar, small mallets and other percussion instruments. We made two short recordings. We recently listened to the recordings and liked them, so we decided to make another one.
We approach recording this music like an open-ended game. One of us makes a move, then the other makes a move in response, and so on. We record new parts and modify existing ones until we agree that it's done.
